A Byram Township School District Bus was involved in an accident yesterday afternoon at the Sussex County Charter School. A press release from Sparta Police spokesman Lt. John Lamon says the driver of the bus was making a left turn on to Route 94 when it was hit by an 18 year old Hamburg woman driving a Toyota Matrix. The bus had six students on board at the time. All of the kids were between 11 and 15 years old. Two of them were shaken up and treated at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Matrix was trapped in the vehicle after the crash. She was taken to Morristown Medical Center by helicopter with an injured arm. A 15 year old passenger in the Matrix was also hurt and taken to Newton Medical Center with a shoulder injury. The accident is still under investigation. No summonses or charges have been filed against either driver. In the release, Lamon did say the 18 year old driver of the Toyota Matrix did have the right of way.
