The National Park Service suddenly closed a two mile section of Route 209 yesterday after discovering "unexpected damages from a broken culvert and excess erosion." The stretch is on the northern part of the roadway between Route 739 and Raymondskill Road. That's milepost 13.5 to milepost 18. Route 209 is the main north to south road through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The announcement from the National Park Service said: "The road will remain closed until further assessments can be completed and safety measures can be put in place."
