Port Authority tolls at the Hudson River Crossings are high. Some people think it's worth a shot to try and not pay them. Mark Aponte of Parlin, New Jersey came up with a high tech way to try and skip through the E-Z Pass lanes at the Holland Tunnel. It worked a few times but eventually the 28 year old got caught. He was allegedly using a remote controlled black out curtain to cover the rear license plate of his Dodge Challenger when he approached the cashless toll lanes. He did not have a front license plate. A New Jersey State Trooper saw Aponte using the curtain and alerted Port Authority Police. Aponte was pulled over on Friday when he tried again. This time Port Authority Police were waiting. He was brought to the Holland Tunnel Police Command Center. He has been charged with theft of services, possession of burglar tools and several other violations.
