Every year in April the Center for Prevention and Counseling in Newton works to raise awareness about the dangers of under age drinking. April is Alcohol Abuse Awareness Month. I've been working on a radio contest for kids in local middle schools and high schools with "The Center" for about 15 years. The kids write public service announcements warning about the dangers of underage drinking and suggest more positive activities instead. This year's theme is "Everything is awesome when you're alcohol free." The kids who write the best 30 second public service announcements get to come to 1023 WSUS and record them with me. Then I mix their voices with music and the announcements play all month on our 3 New Jersey iHeart Radio Stations. Congratulations to this year's winners: Callie from the Lounsberry Hollow School in Vernon, Luka from Kittatinny High School and Kaleigh from Kittatinny High School. Their PSA's will hit the airwaves this Monday.
