New Jersey Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli says her department has filed suit to temporarily take over running Woodland Behavioral and Nursing Center in Andover. Two years ago the facility had the name Andover Sub Acute 1 and 2. At the start of the COVID 19 pandemic the facility struggled to keep the spread of the deadly virus under control. Resulting in many deaths in April of 2020. Even after all of the COVID related deaths and the name change. The facility continued to have problems meeting state standards for the health, safety and well being of it's residents. In March of this year the New Jersey Department of Health asked Atlantic Health System to monitor and report on operations at the facility for 90 days. What those reports had to say is not "subject to disclosure" according to a health department spokesperson. New Jersey is now seeking a court order to start running Woodland Behavioral and Health. Until the facility is sold to new owners.
