Some cool facts about the Summer solstice

Summer officially started at 5:14 this morning. I actually got to be on the air at the exact moment it happened. So what's the science behind all of this. It means today is the day the North Pole is most tilted toward the sun. The precise moment that happens is the same for the entire planet. It's not a whole day or two days. It's an exact moment in time. For us that happened at 5:14 this morning. Did you feel it? This is the day the entire northern hemisphere will have the most daylight. Our area will have 15 hours, 5 minutes plus a few more seconds of daylight. It's pretty cool that the exact moment of the summer solstice is something we share with the whole northern hemisphere.
