I was pretty good at science when I was in school. My favorite science topics were biology and astronomy. This week I've already had one chance to write about the summer solstice was my first chance to write about our solar system. Now I have a second chance. Something sky gazers call the "Parade of Planets" is happening this week. It's been difficult to see because we have not had a clear night. If we are blessed with a clear sky tomorrow morning right before sunrise a rare alignment of 5 planets in our solar system can be seen with the naked eye. Those planets are already called "naked eye" planets. What's awesome is the alignment or parade of those planets won't be happening again until 2040. So if it's clear and you look up into the early morning sky right before sunrise tomorrow here's what you'll see. Looking above and to the right of the crescent moon Saturn will appear highest in the sky. Then slightly below angling toward the moon Jupiter and Mars will be visible. On the other side of the crescent moon angling down to the left you'll see Venus and then Mercury. I'm going to try and take a picture with my phone tomorrow morning on my way into work. If you have binoculars this would be the time to use them.
