The July "Super Moon" or "Buck Moon" will be lighting up the night sky this week. It will be the brightest moon of the summer. This Wednesday Night the moon will be the biggest and brightest moon of the summer. If the sky isn't clear Wednesday night the nights before and after will be almost as good. Tuesday night the moon will be at 98 percent of it's potential brightness. On Thursday Night the full moon will be 99 percent of it's brightness. What makes this full moon a "super moon" is how close it gets to the Earth during it's orbit. This week the moon will be getting much closer than during a typical full moon. Which will be about 223,000 miles away. That means this week's "Super Moon" will be about 30 percent brighter than most full moons. If skies are clear I'm going to love waking up early this week!
