Blairstown's "Princess Doe" identified after 40 years

As a young news reporter just out of college I covered this tragic story. Finally, we know who "Princess Doe" was and who her alleged killer is. Almost 40 years ago on July 25th 1982 the remains of a young woman were found in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Blairstown. Police and detectives investigated the case for 40 years. People in the local community raised money and buried the young woman. Since they did not know who she was they called her "Princess Doe." Now because of new D.N.A. technology we finally know Princess Doe was a 17 year old girl from Long Island named Dawn Olanick. On Friday the Warren County Prosecutors Office announced they've known who killed "Princess Doe" since 2005 but could not press charges because they could not identify her. The man who confessed is 68 year old Arthur Kinlaw. Who is already serving 20 years to life in Sullivan County, New York for two other murders. Kinlaw confessed to trying to lure Olanick into prostitution. Then murdering her when she refused. Her headstone says: "Princess Doe, missing from home, dead among strangers. Remembered by all."
