This weekend was a very busy one for me. I kept up on several projects around the house including priming and painting new trim for my shed and picking the first tomatoes from my garden. Now it's time for grilled cheese, bacon and tomato sandwiches the rest of the summer. July is our month for cucumber salad with cucumbers from the garden. August is Grilled cheese with bacon and tomato month. This Saturday I was a Junior Zookeepers Day at Space Farms. My annual trip into the snake den was great. I'm getting more and more relaxed with snakes slithering all over me. You can watch the video on our WSUS Facebook Page. I took my grand kids with me to Space Farms. They had a great time too. Gracie now wants a pet goat or chicken! Christopher is already fascinated with snakes. We also enjoyed the pool this weekend. I also had to work behind the scenes at WSUS Sunday because I was preparing to not be here for a week. That takes me to the Scranton part of my extended weekend. For the past month I've been on call for Federal Jury Duty service. Yesterday I had to be in Scranton to potentially serve on a long federal trial. This kind of jury service is very hard to get out of once your name is picked. After spending the day learning about the trial and the federal court system. I was almost picked to serve but did not make the final cut. When I arrived in Scranton all I could think of was how inconvenient serving as a juror would have been. After my day at the courthouse I realized it would have been an honor to serve my country this way. I had mixed emotions when I was not chosen. I was in a state of shock when my turkey and bacon "value" meal at Subway near the courthouse set me back over $10. It was my first time actually visiting Scranton rather than driving past it. It looks like there's a lot of history there. One of these days I'd like to spend a long weekend there.
