Passengers aboard a United Airlines flight that just landed at Newark Airport were sent into a near panic when a small garter snake appeared in the cabin Monday afternoon. The serpent ignored the "fasten your seatbelt" signs and slithered freely in the business and economy sections. Upon seeing the unwelcome guest passengers shrieked and raised their legs up off the floor in horror. When the 2 hour flight from Tampa arrived at the gate police were able to capture the harmless creature. There's a good chance the snake belonged to one of the passengers but escaped from whatever it was being hidden in. No one was hurt. After a 20 minute delay the same Boeing 737 was ready to board new passengers and head to Fort Meyers.
