This past Sunday morning the mayor of Poughkeepsie and a local resident quickly responded to a fire alarm going off in their neighborhood. The alarm was coming from an apartment building. They saw smoke coming from a second floor window and both took action. Stacey Potik immediately called 911 to report the fire. Mayor Rob Rolison rushed into the burning building to warn residents. He knocked on the doors on both the first and second floors. Then helped evacuate the residents from the burning building. The Poughkeepsie Fire Department arrived moments later to extinguish the fire. Rolison is a fomer police office and volunteer fireman. He told Mid Hudson News he just "did what needed to be done."
