Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin has announced stiff sentences for two individuals after they plead guilty to charges related to the fentanyl death of a Matamoras resident. Sara Turner of Matamoras was sentenced to 13 to 26 years in state prison after pleading guilty to several charges including "drug delivery resulting in death." Turner is 34.
Brian McKnight of Milford was sentenced to 9 to 40 years in state prison after pleading guilty to similar charges. He is 30 years old.
The case against Turner and McKnight came about after their delivery of fentanyl caused the death of John Hiatt of Matamoras in November of 2020. An investigation by Eastern Pike Regional Police, the Pennsylvania State Police and Pike County District Attorney's Office determined Turner and McKnight were dealing drugs in the Matamoras/Port Jervis area from 2019 until their arrests in 2021.
