A former Newark Police Lieutenant who says he "blacked out" after seeing his estranged wife with her boyfriend has been sentenced to serve 79 years in prison. John Formisano was convicted of murder after shooting and killing 37 year old Christie Formasano at the Jefferson Township home they once shared back in 2019. Formisano also shot Christie's boyfriend Tim Simonson but did not kill him.
In Morristown yesterday, Superior Court Judge Michael Gaus listened to statements from the victim's family and friends. As well as a long statement from Formasino himself. Who spoke about "lies" during his trial. Then the judge told Formasano and the crowded courtroom: " I just listened to what may be one of the most narcissistic statements from a defendant anyone will ever hear in a courtroom."
