Parker Space announces run for state senate

State Senator Steve Oroho announced he was no longer seeking re-election yesterday. He serves the 24th legislative district which covers Sussex, Warren and part of Morris County. Oroho is also the Republican leader in the state senate. He is one of Trenton's most respected and influential Republicans. A few months ago Oroho announced he would run for another term. Yesterday, he said he was "comfortable" with his decision to retire instead because he wants to spend more time with his family.

Assemblyman Space had previously announced he would not seek re-election to dedicate more time to his family's business Space Farms. After Oroho announced his retirement yesterday Space stepped back into the Sussex County Political arena saying: "I'm sorry to learn that Steve has decided not to run for re-election, but I respect his decisions as I know it must not hve been an easy one." The release from Space went on to say: "After considering the impact of the combined departure of Steve, Hal and myself, I'm troubled the district will be left with no continuity of service so I'm declaring myself a candidate for the open senate seat for district 24. I know the tremendous service that our joint district office provides to residents and I think it's very important for that to continue."

Space's wife Jill was elected to serve as a Sussex County Commissioner this past November. The Space Family owns Space Farms Zoo and Museum in Beemerville.
