It has happened to thousands of New Jersey drivers. You already have EZ Pass in good standing but you're still sent one of those annoying toll bills with a $50 administration fee. New legislation just signed by Governor Murphy and unanimously passed by the state legislature should now prevent that from happening. Officials at New Jersey toll roads will now have to check to see if supposed toll violators have an EZ pass that should have been charged.
State Senator Declan O'Scanlon sponsored the legislation last year. He calls it "A massive win for New Jersey drivers." The Turnpike Authority says they already do this but based on how many EZ Pass account holders get the notice and fee it's obvious they're not very good at it.
