I didn't have much planned this weekend. The only thing I knew I was going to do was buy my grandson his first Hot Wheels car. If he was good in preschool all week. So when I went to pick up Christopher on Friday I asked his teachers how he behaved. I was told he was good during lunch but in class he could have been a little better. He didn't always sit down when he was supposed to. What 3 year old does? This to me was a good report because it didn't involve throwing crayons or jumping off chairs. So I took Chris to Shop Rite on the way home to let him pick out his first Hot Wheels car. Another wonderful grandpa moment. He picked out a Range Rover smart kid!
Later in the afternoon it was the first of a few Spring firsts that happened this weekend. We set up the sprinkler in the front yard for the kids and a couple of their friends. So much fun! The other Spring firsts all involved getting my yard ready for Spring and Summer. Last year I discovered how beautiful Zinnias were. I've never had any luck with them before but last year they did very well in a partially shaded area in my front garden. So I harvested some seeds to try and grow some for this spring. I put the seeds in starter pots this past Tuesday. By Saturday they were already popping up from the soil.
Kim's boyfriend brought home some pansies that were left over from a landscaping job yesterday. I didn't plan to start working on my flower beds or pots this weekend but changed my mind. Pansies hold up very well even if there's a frost. So I got to work putting them in my outside pots. Then cleared out and turned the soil in one of the flower beds near my pool. I'll plant the rest of the pansies in that flower bed later today.
