A park ranger who works for Mercer County is facing theft charges after officials realized he was falsifying patrol logs. James Romano III has been accused of falsifying 64 patrol logs between July of 2022 and January of 2023. On those logs Romano claimed to be on patrol but he was actually in his home. The total number of hours Romano spent at home instead of patrolling is close to 300. Officials allege he collected more than $5,700 in stolen wages.
