Weekends in the Month of May are the time to get everything outside the house ready for summer. My short trip to Arizona meant loosing one May weekend and it put me a little behind. This weekend I got pretty close to being caught up. I have the pool almost ready and finished staining the outside decks. My veggies are all planted and most of the flowers are too. All that's left are a few finishing touches in the garden, moving some outside furniture to the pool deck and cleaning up the bottom of the pool. The water looks great so we'll be swimming before you know it.
In between all that work I managed to throw out the first pitch at the Sussex County Miners game Sunday. I was a little off the plate but it was a very good pitch. It was great to see so many families at the game. It was a perfect weekend for baseball. The Miners always make throwing out the first pitch a fun experience for me. Our local baseball team is truly great family entertainment.
Yesterday after working hard all weekend I finally had a chance to enjoy a little grilling on my deck. I was going to get the gourmet burgers but I had to buy regular chopped meat after my grandson poked his fingers through the package. We seasoned it ourselves and the burgers and hot dogs tasted great right off my old grill. My kids always ask me if I want a new one for Father's Day. One of these days I'm going to say "yes." The one I have for now is still getting the job done.
As I mentioned before I took my grandson to the supermarket with me. We went to Market 32 because I wanted to treat myself to some potato salad. It's a treat to get the potato salad there because it is a little expensive. However, it's the best in the area so every once in a while I get some. While we were at the check out he wanted candy. He got upset with me when I wouldn't buy him any. I really think his mom and dad give him too much sugar so the weekend ended with a mean grandpa moment. He wouldn't let me take his picture!
