Almost 3 million people will be taking to the air this weekend. Over the past few days hundreds of flights were cancelled or delayed at Newark Airport due to storms in the area and in other parts of the country. Folks trying to fly out of Newark were forced to pay for hotel rooms or sleep in passenger terminals. Some slept on tables and luggage carts. The CEO of United Airlines Scott Kirby blamed the FAA saying in a memo "Frankly the FAA let us down."
Now as we head into one of the busiest travel weekends of the year the FAA is blaming staffing shortages for more potential problems. If you are heading to Newark Airport over the next couple of days good luck. Maybe this is a silver lining to this cloudy post. My son Dave arrived at JFK from the west coast a few hours ago and had no problems.
