Four people rescued from a rapidly sinking ship yesterday morning are lucky to be alive today. The sport fishing ship Gemini was only about 600 feet away as they jumped into the Atlantic Ocean without life jackets on. The captain of the 56 foot long Gemini had just turned off the ship's engines. Hoping the fisherman on board were over a good spot to catch some fluke. Moments later, one of Gemini's co-owners spotted the much smaller boat going under. The stern was about to slip below he surface. The captain of the Gemini back the larger ship toward the sinking boat and pulled the four passengers out of the Atlantic Ocean. All of this happened about 3 and a half miles off the Manasquan Inlet. Too far to swim a shore and a very dangerous place to be without a life jacket.
