Stories about missing children don't always have a happy ending. Thanks to great police work the story of 9 year old Charlotte Sena did end with her safe return. Charlotte went missing late Saturday afternoon at Moreau Lake State Park. Her parents called 911 15 minutes after she went missing. A 47 year old man who was in the area at the time has been arrested.
At a press conference last night, Governor Kathy Hochul said the case started to break yesterday after a ransom note was left in the mailbox of the Sena's home early in the morning. Police were watching the home and were able to match a fingerprint on the note to a suspect. A man who was arrested for DWI back in 1999. Craig Nelson Ross Jr. was found living in a camper behind his mother's double wide house. He was uncooperative and resisted when police arrived. Ross was taken into custody. Charlotte was found moments later in a cabinet. The governor said Charlotte knew she had been rescued and "was in safe hands." Her parents were notified around 6:30 PM.
