The United Methodist Church of Matamoras had a yard sale on Saturday. Everything had to be moved indoors. I wanted to support my church so I told my grand kids I would buy them a few things if they wanted to stop by. At first they weren't too excited but we went anyway. That's when my grand daughter Gracie reminded me of my mom. One thing my mom loved was knickknacks. She had them in every room in the house. When she passed away I kept some of them. To me they are just dust collectors. Every yard sale I've ever been to has had plenty of knickknacks. What really surprised me on Saturday was my grand daughter's reaction to all the knickknacks she saw at the church. She absolutely loved them and couldn't wait to decorate her room with the ones she picked. Some of the ladies at the church were happy to help her buy even more than I promised to buy. We spent about ten bucks. When we got home I gave Gracie an old wall shelf we had downstairs to put her new treasures on. It warmed my heart to see how happy she was.
I did a few other things this weekend too. My daughter and I managed to roll the new heavy concrete septic tank cap from the front yard to the back yard. I felt like one of The Flintstones. I stopped at T.J. Max and bought some new active wear for my up coming trip to South Carolina. The only time I buy new clothes for myself is right before I take a trip somewhere. I'm not sure why I do that. In the kitchen I sliced and fried some of the Russet Potatoes we bought on sale at Shop Rite. My grandma used to do the exact same thing. These home made potato chips take a lot of time to make. They're well worth it when we get to enjoy them.
