The taxpayers of New Jersey provide each governor with a $95,000.00 a year expense account for official receptions, residence and other official expenses. It is not to be used for personal expenses and entertainment. However, a new report from Politico says money from that taxpayer funded account has been used by the past two governors to entertain rather extravagantly at Met Life Stadium. Governor Murphy spent $12,000.00 from the account in 2018 and 2019 during a Taylor Swift concert and football games. When asked about this a spokesperson for the governor said the state Democratic Party fully intends to reimburses taxpayers for the governor's Met Life expenses back in 2018 and 2019 but hasn't yet. The total amount for snacks like guacamole and bottled water totaled over $12,000.00.
Meanwhile, the report goes on to say former governor Chris Christie spent over $84,000.00 on expenses at Met Life Stadium during the 2010 and 2011 football seasons. Which was reimbursed by the state Republican Party. Governor Murphy is a billionaire. Chris Christie is now running for President. All this tells me is the way they both live is totally disconnected from the rest of us!
