Volunteer firefighters who raced to Hope Cress Farms in Warren County this past Thursday found the barn already engulfed in flames. They were able to save a green house and other structures but the barn was a total loss. Inside the barn 40 pigs and 400 chickens lost their lives. Now the Hope Township Volunteer Fire Department is spearheading an effort to help the family that owns the farm recover. Several members of the Van Grouw Family are volunteer firefighters themselves. So far a Go Fund Me page has raised $65,000.
