A quick Christmas and New Year's "Weekend in Pictures" recap

This Christmas the only gift I wanted was a new back pack for when I travel. When I fly I've learned to bring as little as possible. On my trip to South Carolina in November one of the straps on my back pack broke so I do need a new one. In true form my family got me two back packs for Christmas. They got me a second one in case the first one breaks. I guess they like it when I'm not around! Of course my Christmas highlight was spending some time with my grand kids. As you can see Santa left quite a bounty of toys under the tree at grandpa and mommy's house. I think he was lenient this year as far as the whole "being good little boys and girls" is concerned. Right after Christmas I started a new project. Replacing the carpet in Gracie's room with nice waterproof flooring. Kim's boyfriend helped rip up the old carpet. Now we just have to lay down the new floor. Gracie's room will be really nice when we're done.

New Year's Weekend went pretty fast. I didn't make any special plans because I knew I would have to be on the air New Year's Morning. Three of my kids had to work yesterday as well. So we were all in bed early. My one son who did not have to work decided he would stop by with his wife and "surprise" us right before the ball came down. A unexpected knock on your door at 10 minutes to midnight gets your heart racing. Thanks for surprising us Dave! It was nice to enjoy some cookies and watch the ball drop in my PJ's with them. I sent them home by ! and we made plans for a New Year's Day dinner. Dave's wife is from Indonesia and she's a great cook. It was nice to enjoy something a little different than I was used to for dinner. Her Asian spiced chicken and noodles were really good. Then a slice of cheesecake for dessert. We did have a couple of surprises yesterday. I broke my brand new pair of glasses by accidently sitting on them. They were very expensive because the optician said the frames were extra durable and flexible. I guess not. If every day of 2024 turns out to be as expensive as replacing those glasses. I'm just going to retire and sit my my closet until 2025. There was also another surprise. Gracie's father told her she could have another kitten. Which will be coming to my house when she is with her mother. Which is most of the time. Gracie knows this is the last cat grandpa's house can handle. We are up to three. Meet Smokey. I hope you enjoy the pictures below.
