Some interesting facts about Leap Years

2024 is a Leap Year. That means we add one day to the calendar to keep our calendars coordinated with the seasons. Without the extra day added every 4 years our seasons would gradually go out of sync. Basically, it takes the Earth 365.25 days to orbit the sun not 365 days. Without leap years our seasons would be off by a full month after 100 years. The day we add is February 29th. Many years ago Leap Day was the one day women could propose to men. It was called "ladies privilege." Today we call it Sadie Hawkins Day. Leap years are always years that can be evenly divided by 4. Some people think Leap Years are bad luck. The Titanic sunk and Rome burned during a Leap Year. At the same time some good things happened in Leap Years as well. The Pilgrims landed in Plymouth and Ben Franklin discovered electricity during a Leap Year.
