Ok for starters you don't have to be very precise with any of these. After all these years I usually just eyeball everything. Here's what I do to make the cheeseburger bake so many of you wanted the recipe for.
1) Brown your chopped meat, I usually use 80 percent lean. 85 percent is fine too. The amount of chopped meat depends on how much cheeseburger pie you want. I usually go with about 2 pounds and make a larger pie.
2) Brown some fresh onion. But not too much. Just enough to get it soft. Use a whole large onion if you like onions. A smaller onion if you want less onion flavor.
3) Blend the onion and browned chopped meat together. Then add a cup of frozen mixed vegetables. If you want more than a cup go for it. The veggies tend to blend in nicely.
4) Now it's time to add your soup. You can use a can or two of Campbell's Cheddar Cheese Soup or a can of Progresso Broccoli and Cheese Soup. If you use the Campbell's soup blend in an equal amount of milk.
At this point the meat, onions, veggies, soup and milk should all be mixed together in a large bowl.
5) Spray a square or round baking dish with your favorite non stick vegetable oil. The dish is determined by how large you want the pie to be.
6) Mix some Bisquick with water until it looks like a thick pancake batter. Then add an egg or two. You should be able to pour the batter into the baking dish when you're done.
7) When the batter is spread out about a half inch deep in your baking pan add what's in the bowl. It will sink in a little. The meat mix should cover the whole pan.
8) Then top everything with a generous layer of cheddar cheese. You can blend shredded Mozzarella with the Cheddar if you want to.
9) Then bake at 325 for about an hour. Keep an eye the pie when it's in the oven. Sometimes it cooks faster. If the cheese starts burn. Take it out.
My instructions are not very precise but the meat mix surrounded by the Bisquick and topped with the cheese will be delicious.
Enjoy!
