A couple of firefighters from Jefferson Township Fire Company 2 rowed out to a swan tangled in line on Lake Hopatcong. The bird was struggling and most likely would not have been able to get free on it's own. According to the fire department's Facebook page the majestic bird was not happy to see humans at first. Once free the swan did give it's rescuers "a wave on the way out." The rescue happened this past Thursday. The swan was unhurt by it's ordeal and hopefully will avoid any future entanglements.
