Labor Day is a day we set aside for everyone who works hard to have a day to relax. It's a big weekend to travel and in years past that's what I've done. This year I decided on a staycation instead. My grandkids went away with their mom and dad on Saturday and Sunday so I slowed myself down a little. It was cloudy anyway so I slept late, started closing the pool, touched up the living room and worked in the garden a little. Several years ago when I went into the NJBA Hall of Fame the New Jersey State Legislature recognized me with an official proclamation. My grandson knocked it off the wall and the frame broke a few months ago. I finally bought a new frame and hung it back up with my college degree and my son's degree from SCCC. We grilled some steaks and Labor Day dinner was pulled pork. My grandkids were home on Labor Day so we had a little time together. I think I made 4 grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches for Kim and Gracie. It's already a fact the grandpa's grilled cheese sandwiches are the best. My grandson provided some comedy again. His dad ordered pizza on Sunday and gave it to my daughter to take home for him. Chris is not a fan of store bought pizza. When I asked him if he wanted pizza at first he said "No." Then he asked if it was "ordered and had meatballs." I told him "yes" so he agreed to have some pizza. Somehow he put two big slices into his little body. Hint: left over pizza comes out great when you reheat it in the air fryer. For the record, I'm not as picky as my grandson. Some store bought pizza is actually very good. A neighborhood raccoon also provided some comedy. I left the paint tray and roller next to the garbage on Saturday. My plan was to use my garden hose to thoroughly clean both with the garden hose on Sunday. One of our neighborhood racoons decided to check out the situation and left adorable foot prints in my driveway. I hope you got a chance to enjoy and chill this weekend.
