My "Cheesy Chains and Spikes" Weekend in Pictures

Sometimes I can still be pretty creative. Last Spring our dog Millie tore down all the gallon milk jugs that were holding down the pool cover. This is the way I closed the pool for years. Thanks to Millie I had to find another way. Hopefully, what I came up with will work. I'm using ground spikes and chains. If I use enough of them the pool cover shouldn't go anywhere. So far so good.

So where does the cheesy come in? That refers to my kitchen creativity. Many years ago after my divorce I was a single dad. Money was very tight with 4 kids to feed and one paycheck. Sometimes there was only a few dollars to buy food. So I tried not to waste anything in the refrigerator or pantry. I came up with some pretty tasty combinations. Having money for food is no longer a problem. Sometimes I just don't feel like going to the food store. That was the way I felt Saturday Night. So I rummaged around the pantry and refrigerator looking for things my picky grandchildren were not eating. I found a box of mac and cheese, a can of diced Mexican tomatoes and a 12 ounce package of bacon. When I combined all three the result was delicious. At the last minute I topped everything with Italian bread crumbs from the pantry too. My mom topped her mac and cheese with bread crumbs all the time.

My son Matt came over a few days ago and installed new LED lights over the kitchen counter too. They look great. Everything is much brighter. Now it's become obvious that I need to paint the kitchen ceiling. When you own a house you're never done!
