Senator Parker Space had to be flown by helicopter to Jacobi Medical Center in New York City after he was bitten by a rattlesnake at Space Farms. He was discharged on New Years Day and is expected to make a full recovery. Space says he was bitten on the finger while feeding the snake on Monday. Then drove himself to the hospital because he didn't want to tell his wife. Newton Medical Center administered 14 doses of anti venom before Space was flown to the hospital in New York City. Which specializes in snake bites. By then his finger had doubled in size.
He was back at the zoo yesterday feeding the snakes. Something he has done since he was 12. The senator said: "It's not the snakes fault, it's my fault. I must have let my guard down a bit."
