I can't remember when the temperature on my dashboard on the way into work said minus 6. At 4:20 this morning that's what I saw driving along route 23 in Wantage and Hamburg.
In some places it could be even colder.
Just in case you were wondering if it's ever gotten this cold before. The answer is "yes."
Actually, the all time records are much lower. So here they are:
34 below in River Vale in Bergen County ( January 5th 1904)
32 below in Layton in Sussex County ( January 14th 1912)
32 below in Sandyston in Sussex County ( January 21st 1994)
January 21st 1994 also saw these record lows in Sussex County
28 below in Sparta and Sussex
26 below in Newton
My daughter was born in January of 1994. I remember it was a very cold winter. The first few weeks of her life she was in the hospital several times. We hated taking her out in the bitter cold.
