When he played for the Mets and Phillies Len Dykstra earned the nickname "nails." He played hard and as a Met fan I remember many clutch hits. Sadly, off the field he has struggled. At one point he spent time in Federal Prison for Bankruptcy Fraud. This time he was a passenger in a pick up truck pulled over by Pennsylvania State Police New Yea's Eve on Route 507 in Greene Township. He was not arrested but issued a summons for possession of narcotics and narcotics related equipment. He has a court date for a preliminary hearing in Pike County on February 3rd. The charges came from Pennsylvania State Police at Blooming Grove. Dykstra's lawyer Matthew Blit says the charges "Will be swiftly absolved." Dykstra is now 62 years old. He played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Mets and Phillies. Taking home a World Series Ring with the Mets in 1986.
