S.C.C.C. corona virus drive through testing could begin Friday

Yesterday morning I spoke with Sussex County Freeholder Dawn Fantasia on the WSUS Morning Show. She told me over the past several days several county departments have been working together to open the corona virus testing site at Sussex County Community College. Those departments include the Office of Emergency Management, Sussex County Department of Human Services, Health Department and County Administrator. Atlantic Health has agreed to partner with Sussex County which was the final step needed to open the drive through testing site. Fantasia said there could possibly be a "soft opening" this Friday. Only county residents who have a referral from a health care provider will be tested. The testing will be for symptomatic patients only. Fantasia said those who have symptoms of corona virus "will be the first in line." The county hopes up to 100 tests can be done each testing day. The testing center in the S.C.C.C. parking lot will be open weekdays, not weekends. Fantasia said the county is developing the protocols to schedule tests. If the Morris County "model" is implemented tests would be scheduled on line. Fantasia said she wouldn't be surprised if Sussex County uses a similar on line registration model when final details are approved. As of yesterday, the Sussex County Health Department reported a drop in new corona-virus cases but 2 more deaths. There have been 121 corona virus related deaths in Sussex County over the past 7 weeks. Out of 994 total positive cases 701 people have recovered.
