A Flood Watch has been issued for parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon. The areas included in the watch are Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren in New Jersey, as well as Berks, Carbon, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Upper Bucks, Western Chester, and Western Montgomery in Pennsylvania.

The flood watch is due to excessive rainfall, which may cause flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams in the area are already running high and could potentially flood with additional heavy rain.

Meteorologists are predicting rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches, with localized areas receiving up to 4 inches of rain. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur on Tuesday night. The ground in the region is already heavily saturated from previous rounds of heavy rainfall over the past month. The combination of the saturated ground, snowmelt, and heavy rain increases the risk of flooding, especially in urban areas and across northeast Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey.

Residents in low lying areas are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in flood-prone areas should make preparations and be ready to take action if flooding occurs.
