After Effects From The Storm In Jersey.

This storm on Friday was unreal.  While the snow forecast for 3-6 inches plus a bit more in higher elevations wasn't too far off for Vernon, some received a bit more especially in Wantage, Beemerville, etc, this wind was indeed just as dangerous as predicted.  My friends in Wantage said they got over a foot!  So many have been without power for several days and are comparing this struggle to Hurricane Sandy.  I woke up Saturday morning with Awesome Girlfriend Megan at my place in Vernon with power, heat, all of those luxuries.  Once I started scrolling through Facebook, the damage was more and more visible by the minute.  More and more of my friends in Vernon and throughout started to report their power outage struggle.  It is probably tough entertaining kids these days without WIFI, let alone without POWER!

Ron Morano of JCP & L came on 102.3 WSUS this morning with Steve Andrews to discuss their progress.  He said most will have power back by tonight, while those hardest hit will have it back by Wednesday.  Another challenge?  Some are predicting another Nor'Easter style storm with dangerous winds late Tuesday night through Wednesday.  In a word: YUCK.

Many local businesses have stepped up during these tough times, and you can see them on Vernon Police and Vernon Twp. OEM Facebook pages.  They have stepped up with offering charging / warming stations, food donations, and more.  I have always supported many of these local businesses, and will definitely continue to do so now.  You can see their Facebook page by clicking here.  (I supported one of them last night in a hot tub, and with some delicious ice cold beers.)

Tragic.  An Andover man, just 41 years old was killed, electrocuted by downed power lines.  Authorities remind us to please please please please stay away from downed power lines.  You can see more about this sad story by clicking here.
