Hilltop Country Day School in Sparta and Mountain Creek Ski Resort in Vernon are partnering to offer a ski academy program for grades 5-8. Students will split school days with four hours of compressed academic instruction and four hours of ski instruction.
The program comes at a price. Hilltop students can join the program for $5,000 on top of the $21,400 per year tuition they currently pay.
Students enrolled at other middle schools also have the option to join through a winter trimester option. This allows students to register full-time at Hilltop in the ski academy program but students who elect for this option will have to transition between their current school in the fall and spring. This option costs $10,000 for the season.
For the first year, the school will be limiting the program to 15 students who can ski beyond that of a beginner athlete.
