The Hopatcong woman who was arrested after bragging on social media that she and her son ran over three cats, has plead not guilty to animal cruelty charges. Earlier this month Vas Cain of Hopatcong was arrested, after her social media claims were shared many times. This story makes me sick to my stomach. She reportedly been charged hitting a domestic animal and failing to report the incident. Our friends at NJ Herald report that the judge lowered her fee for a public defender from $200 to $100. Despite her claims however, authorities have not been able to yet find proof of her social media claims. This also raises the question whether someone can be sent to jail over something they post on social media. I'm so happy that Justice For Dogs became involved with this situation. Thank goodness I was able to keep my cat "Pepper," inside for his wonderful 17 year life. My thoughts and prayers go out to families who may have lost their pets in this awful incident. Even if they're not an animal lover, I just don't understand how someone could brag about this.
