New Jersey's Seat Belt Ticket Blitz is Underway

Police Departments across New Jersey are taking part in the annual "Click it or Ticket" campaign through June 2nd. If you don't normally buckle up there's a much better chance you'll be getting a ticket because more police offers will be out there watching. This year New Jersey awarded $548,000 in grant money to police departments across the state to pay for police overtime. In Sussex County the only police department to receive a grant this year was the Stanhope Police Department. It was for $5,500.00. So if you take Route 206 on your way to Route 80 make sure you're buckled up. During last year's ticket blitz police department's in New Jersey issued more than 20 thousand tickets. About 95 percent of New Jersey drivers regularly use seat belts. Campaigns like this are designed to improve that percentage.
