Body of Parsippany Man Recovered from Lake Hopatcong After 3-Day Search

The body of a Parsippany man who went missing on Saturday while swimming in Lake Hopatcong was recovered by divers on Monday. According to NJ.com, Avinash Kuna's body was recovered shortly after 6 p.m. from the waters in Henderson Cover.

The 32-year-old was in a pontoon boat with three friends on Saturday, June 1 when he entered the water voluntarily and started to struggle to stay afloat. As reported by NJ.com, Kuna's friends said he yelled that something was pulling him down and screamed for help. They were unable to pull him to safety before the he went underwater and didn't resurface.

Troopers from the Marine Services Bureau searched for Kuna's body with the assistance of State Police Aviation, Missing Persons, T.E.A.M.S. Units, the Jefferson Fire Department, and troopers from the Canine Unit.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Kuna’s friends to raise money to send his body back to India.
