One decade comes to a close, a new decade is upon us...

Happy New Year! Or should I say Happy New Decade?

I'm confused. I don't know what to call the 2010s. Maybe it's pronounced "twenty tens"? Just trying to be consistent. I guess the 2020s will be pronounced "twenty twentys". But what was the 2000s called? The "two thousands" or "twenty hundreds"? Or perhaps "the new millennium"? See where the confusion lies?

With the turn of a new decade comes significant changes in our life culture. When the 1970s closed and moved into the 1980s, it was the end of the "disco era" and all the fashions that came with it. When the 1980s passed into the 1990s, so went the flashy clothes and great pop music and replaced with grunge music and less desirable tunes to listen to (just my opinion). In the 2000s, computers became a strong presence in our lives with technology advancing even further than imagined. The 2010s brought web and mobile apps, but interpersonal communications among human beings were replaced with texting, web chats and social media.

Maybe life was better in the 1970s and 1980s? What will the 2020s bring to us?

Anyway, whatever it is called, I wish you all the best in the new year and decade ahead!

2020
