Prosecutor says former Wallkill Youth Football treasurer stole thousands

Over the past few years several individuals entrusted with handling money for non profit community organizations have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar. The latest person charged with stealing thousands from programs intended to do good is 42 year old Justine Lynn from Franklin. Lynn is the former treasurer of the Wallkill Valley Youth Football and Cheerleading Program. The indictment alleges she stole over $15,000.00 from the program while she had control of the organization's funds. The thefts came to light after two board members went to Hardyston Police to report the missing funds one year ago. Lynn later admitted to police she took the money for herself. She is facing one charge of third degree theft. Over the past few years Newton Roller Hockey, Swartswood Fire Department and Hamburg P.T.A. have also been victims of similar thefts. Maybe it's time to stop going easy on people who steal from kids and first responders. How about some jail time Instead of P.T.I. and probation?
