My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Tax Time, and some fun with friends

It seems like everywhere I went this weekend, everyone was so supportive and proud of my Learn To Ski video last week with Mountain Creek. In case you missed it, I posted the video at the bottom of my Weekend In Pictures after the Sunday pictures. This weekend my travels took me to Vernon, Rockaway Mall, Franklin, Andover, then finally back in Vernon. There were some Epic parts for sure.

Friday night we started off the weekend at Kite's in Vernon. I had a great time catching up with my besties Ed, Kimmy, and bartender Jake. I enjoyed a couple of Sam Adams Cold Snaps. Sam Adams Cold Snap beer is probably one of my favorite parts of February. It's my favorite seasonal beer by them, I feel that it's just about right. Not too hoppy, not too citrusy, not overly heavy, not overly high testing, etc. Just about right.

Saturday morning I was in full blown errand mode. My top mission priority was getting Filet Mignon steaks for me, Meg and my parents next weekend. My parents are always teasing me because I have them visit me from Boston for President's Day Weekend. A couple years ago they accused me of making up holidays for getting them to visit me, LOL. I think they now know how fun President's Day Weekend can be, watching skiers and snowboarders at Mountain Creek from my deck.

Saturday afternoon I was able to see Awesome Girlfriend Megan at Rockaway Mall. Kay Jeweler's has a deal where if you get your engagement ring inspected / cleaned every 6 months, they have a lifetime warranty on it. I offered to take Meg out for a slice of cheesecake at Cheesecake Factory. She surprised me by having the kids surprise us. I was happy to see them and we all enjoyed our cheesecake. I of course did my usual Dulce De Leche caramel cheesecake and wolfed the whole thing down. No regrets! Meg and I had a terrific bartender there named Joshua, who recommended this Cricket Hill Brewery IPA called "Hopnotic." We were very happy with those results. Great IPA beer and a yummy slice of my favorite cheesecake? Life is great!

Saturday afternoon on my way back from Cheesecake Factory, I swung by The Irish Cottage Inn and figured a few of my friends would be there. I was right. I had so many laughs with Damian who told me about a Guinness Clear product, ie, WATER, and then laughed along with so many of our friends. Marky, Buckeye Paul, Vince, Artie, Mayor Paul, Jack, Teresa, Ed, and so many more. Just a random Saturday afternoon filled with adventures and laughs.

Saturday night, chill night over at Jasen and Brendan's with Carrie. They grilled some Wahlburgers. Would you believe that despite growing up in Boston (Mansfield,) I have never had a Wahlburger until Saturday night? In my defense, the Wahlburger empire really exploded after I moved here to Jersey 6 years ago. Brendan did a great job grilling it. All night though, I was just feeling subpar and off. I was getting ready to leave pretty early, just feeling off. Then surely enough, right before I was getting ready to leave, I had to run to the bathroom and got sick. My post nasal drippage got the best of me. The good thing is with that illness, after you get sick, you usually start to feel better pretty quickly. I was still off, but definitely on the way back up for sure. (Probably bad choice of words there, sorry my bad!)

Sunday it was time for taxes. Awesome Daughter Caitlyn, our official Family Accountant was more than happy to help. I brought over a pack of Budweiser for her to switch it up from last year's Mike's Hard Lemonade Margarita. I'm very happy to have my taxes done. One of my favorite quotes from Cait was "Steve, you're not a head of household, you're just single, sorry Steve." LOL.

Sunday after then Meg and I went to Sheridan's Restaurant for a beer. We laughed. I drove the wrong way getting there taking a left instead of right. We enjoyed a good beer called "Foreign Objects Mars In Scorpio, a NE Hazy IPA from a brewery in Pottstown, PA. It was quite tasty and again like a Cold Snap, not too much of anything, just about right.

Sunday afternoon I watched some of the XFL game and I was happy with the results. I would really like for the league to work. I want more football, and I'm psyched so many athletes and coaches are getting chances to play.

Sunday now that NFL football is over, back to our Sunday Happy Hour routine at Kite's. I had many laughs with Brad, Sarah, Tommy, Dilma, Steve, George, and bartender Jake. We were watching a corn hole championship instead of Oscars preparty coverage.

I then watched some of the Oscars before going to bed. I'm not a movie guy, so Oscars don't usually excite me all that much despite being the biggest night in movies. I then got very excited when Eminem did a surprise performance of "Lose Yourself." He sounds just as great now as he did when this song came out in 2003.

Overall we had a wonderful weekend. I hope your weekend was terrific too. Time to start planning next weekend's adventures, and they're going to be Epic. My parents are visiting from Boston. HERE WE GO!
