Many people were disappointed when the Newton Town Pool had to be closed this past summer. The town council had to get answers from engineers about the cost of repairing drainage problems and modifications that would better for kids and people with disabilities. The answers came and bids were requested. On Monday Night the town council voted to move forward and approve All State Technology's $365,000 bid to do the all necessary work. All State Technology is a company in Oak Ridge. The town will pay for the work with a $400,000 bond issue already approved by the council. Now that the town has decided to invest the money to keep the pool open. Let's hope residents of Newton and surrounding communities support the pool with memberships and daily admission fees.
