Over the weekend police in Long Branch had to block access to the beach because social distancing became impossible and many people were not wearing masks. After nearly 4 months of being locked down people are flocking to New Jersey beaches when the weather is nice. I'm one of those people who is hoping to spend some time smelling the salt air soon. Local authorities are responsible for making sure beach goers are staying far enough apart. Governor Murphy is concerned not all beach communities are making sure his executive orders are enforced. Yesterday, Murphy stopped short of threatening to close the beaches again. What he did say was: "Some of what we saw over the weekend concerned us." "If we don't manage capacity at beaches and we can't get social distancing, we're probably playing with fire."
