Another person has drowned in the Delaware River

My home in Matamoras, Pennsylvania is a 5 minute walk from the Delaware River. It's a beautiful river in this area. Starting in New York State and continuing through the Delaware Water Gap. When the weather is hot and the river is calm many people jump in their canoes, kayaks or tubes for a trip down the river. Sometimes people who are unfamiliar with the river's strong current fail to put on a life jacket with tragic results. This is exactly what happened this past Saturday according to a press release from the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The name of the man who drowned was not released. The release does say he was 51 years old and from New York City. He was with a group who brought their own tubes for their river trip. Around 3:30 near Tocks Island he got separated from the group and fell out of his tube. Members of the group and bystanders on the river bank brought him ashore and tried C.P.R. He was eventually transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital were he was pronounced dead.
