My "Cool in the Pool" Weekend in Pictures

I knew it was going to be very hot this weekend. So I made sure I mowed the backyard Friday afternoon. Friday was also my ex wife's birthday. We celebrated with Matt, Kim and David at my house. Our grand kids Gracie and Christopher were there too. It was pretty relaxing and low key. We ordered out and I picked up our dinners from a local restaurant in Matamoras. The older I get the more I appreciate relaxing low key parties. The food was excellent and our order was perfect. Last week I told you Christopher was crawling all over the place. Kim bought him a walker last week and he's already starting to use it. Pretty soon he'll be walking and the rest of us will be running! I got up early Saturday morning to pick cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes from my garden. Then got to work on the pool. By 10 o'clock the pool was in perfect shape. We went in for a little while. Saturday afternoon I went to my cousin Tara's engagement party for her daughter Tori. Tara is the cousin who lives closest to me in Warwick, New York. When our families get together it's like the good times we had when we were kids. Her son Chase had a lot of fun with silly string during the party. I didn't even realize they still made that stuff! Sunday we spent a lot of time in the pool. Christopher and Gracie just love the water. A few years ago, I almost had the pool taken down because my kids were not using it anymore. Seeing how much my grand kids enjoy the water has made me very happy I left the pool up. After the pool I made fresh cucumber and green pepper salad. Since I started growing cucumbers and peppers many summers ago. This has become our go to summer snack. For some reason there were no paper towels on store shelves near my house this weekend. I finally found some at Montague Shop Rite Sunday night. How can one state run out of paper towels and the next state over have plenty?
