Delaware Valley School District Superintendent John Bell says schools will reopen on August 31st. In an on line presentation available to watch at dvsd.org Bell reported the results of district wide survey of parents and presented 5 different options to re-open. One of the main takeaways from the survey was that 85 percent of parents said they planned to send their kids to traditional school. The survey also showed 64 percent of parents "hoped" school would open with in person instruction. Bell said almost every district he has spoken to are planning to bring elementary students back to school 5 days a week. While for secondary school students there is a 60/40 split between a 5 day a week schedule and an alternating day schedule. The options under consideration range from all students in school daily to 100 percent on line instruction. Health and safety guidance for the district are being provided by the state departments of health and education, the C.D.C. and several local hospitals.
