A second stimulus check is still on the table

The bi-partisan $908 billion economic stimulus plan appears to be gaining some momentum with some additional funds added for another economic stimulus check. The Trump Administration has proposed a $916 billion package that takes away the additional $300 a week unemployment benefit but adds a $600 per person stimulus check. The proposal to add a $600 stimulus check and take away the additional $300 a week unemployment benefit is not sitting well with local Congressman Josh Gottheimer who says he won't support that: "The challenge with the proposal is that it guts unemployment, which I believe is essential to those who are out of work." Meanwhile, 6 Democrats in the U.S. Senate want an even larger economic stimulus of $1,200 per person. Many Republicans are also saying they won't support any legislation that does not include a stimulus check as well. Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley has urged President Trump to veto any bill that does not include a direct payment to Americans.
